This page includes sample files to download, links to useful websites, ideas from experienced teachers and generally resources that will help teachers complement their lessons.

The tips on this page will represent the ideas of a collection of methods and approaches that have been tried and tested.

There will be ideas relating to the order in which certain topics are presented; methods of introducing for example: ratio or algebraic fractions and much much more. Using technology and new programs will also be covered.

Teachers are encouraged to submit their ideas and as to how they feel this page can be improved.

Grade 12 PowerPack Sample (677KB)

     The PowerPack file includes:
  • Slide of contents with hyperlinks links to Grade 8, 9, 10 and 11 LO's;

        (this feature is disabled in the sample version),

  • One slide brief Summary of all assessment standards;

  • Complete detailed list of all Assessment Standards including many hyperlinks;
  • Formulae sheet (3 Slides);
  • Selective Glossary;
  • Proofs, Examples* etc.

    All these elements have been bundled    together into a unique 30 slide (sample) presentation offering teachers a wide range of benefits and materials for their lessons. It will be updated on a regular basis and eventually will contain many more hyperlinks to a wide range of resources. The font size is generally 18 Arial making it easy to read and follow.

Members can download and open the Curriculum PowerPacks.  Passwords are required to open the files. These are editable files. They each contain in the region of 80 slides and are approximately 800KB in size.

* Each PowerPack will initially contain only a few samples of Proofs, Examples etc. As time passes more content relating to each particular assessment standard will be added and made available for downloading.

Teachers could then copy and paste these individual slides into their PowerPacks.  Alternatively one could download the whole file (for example Grade 9 PowerPack) and replace the older version with the newer version.

Please add your comments below, as well as any websites you have found helpful (copy and paste the URL from the address field in your Browser).

Also if you have a particular method of introducing or teaching a topic which you would like to share then send it to us and we'll review the material and possibly add it the Tried and Tested section of this page. (See below for more details).

  Tried and Tested Approaches

The purpose of this section is to provide experienced teachers a portal through which they can share their ideas. Those who benefit will, in most cases, be new teachers or those looking for a fresh approach.

If you wish to submit content please make sure that it is in the form of an easily readable document containing only text, diagrams, possibly tables and a maximum of two pages. Images (for example JPEG files) and other multi-media type files must not be used. Sketchpad and SketchUp files may be sent. Before possibly adding your contribution a little editing may occur in order to maintain some form of uniformity. You will be able to preview any changes before the file is added to this page.

You can choose to have your name, email address and/or name of school included on this page along with the submission or you can choose to have no personal information associated with your contribution. (Part of the idea behind this section is to facilitate networking between teachers; in that respect, an email address would be appreciated).
